What we do
Wye Valley Music promotes chamber music concerts in venues in the Wye Valley. In 2012/13 it is promoting 12 concerts through the year in six venues. It showcases promising students and supports artists launching their careers, but most of our events will be performed by world-class musicians on their way to a world-class career. Some will already have arrived.
We choose our venues mainly on the basis of their kind acoustic qualities for the types of music we present. St Briavels Church is not particularly comfortable but is quaint with an excellent acoustic while
the Assembly Rooms is warmer and more comfortable; Hellens Manor is a beautiful historic house in Much Marcle, a living monument to much of England's history and the church at Hoarwithy is unusual architecturally. Most venues have fine, modern concert grand pianos.
Run on a shoestring by a small group of volunteers, we could do more and better if we had more helpers willing to spend a few hours a week on interesting, worthwhile projects.
